Wrote another e mail to Sean lynch, to see if he would give me Simon starling's e mail address, he was reluctant to get involved, and I can understand his position completely; apparently, a lot of people ask him for the address, (I did not realise this) and he does not wish to be a middle man. I am uncertain as to what my next step is in regards to this matter; I am certain though, a solution will present itself.

Measured up for my perspex boxes. Went to find Limerick glass; after driving around for a while eventually found them. It transpires that there is a perspex type product which is harder than perspex, polycarbonate? so opted for that instead.They will have it ready tomorrow. Had a small piece of perspex already, so got that cut down to size for the inside of the pedestal.Got another piece of 6mm mdf cut for the top of the pedestal; will have to get someone with a router to rout out an oval shape, so I can insert a piece of glass or perspex into it. Got a couple of more 'branch' additions today. My beauty board is almost complete; just 2 more people to go now.

Went down town to get some wiring, brackets and bulb holders for my display pedestal, It was intricate work putting it altogether. Went for tutorial regarding my essay; it transpires that I am going to have to do a lot of reading over the summer, I have enough for the essay but not enough for a first chapter.Never mind, at least in the summer I won't have a studio practice to maintain.Took more photographs of the eggsaws. Made a start on the second piece that involves appropriating my work to my classmates. The brief I have given them,is to paint a blue sky and a branch; nothing too complicated or time consuming, it would not be fair to ask too much of them this time of term.I have received a great response so far; they are a great bunch of people.

Transfered the mini dv on to digital. Had the usual keystone cops runaround in the multimedia room; the new macs just don't cut the mustard. (They probably do but just need configuring right) Got the eggsaws off Des; Alan was quite impressed with them; he said to get some photo's etc. The Steve Reich performance has not come out very well; it can be salvaged though with some good editing. Took the measurement of the pedestal for the velvet cloth; also have to buy bulb holders. Measured up for the perspex too, hope to get these sorted out tomorrow.

Got the pedestal from Richard; it needs a bit of work, nothing too complicated though. Went to Malpin's to get my u v lamps. Printed off some photographs. Katrina has suggested that we place the performance work in a separate location from our own work. She has also said to have a monitor ready for use. I was one step ahead of her on this; and have booked a projector and a monitor. I realised after the last assessments that my presentation has to be more professional. Fair play to her for giving me the good advice.

Gave my colleagues back their deposits. I feel a sense of disappointment over the Berlin affair; We were very excited at the prospect of showing in Berlin; I guess this has been a valuable learning experience. I personally have put a great deal of time and effort in to this project; correspondence with the gallery, organising the meetings,writing up the jobs, discussions with colleagues, collecting deposits, sending money off to Berlin etc,etc,etc. That said, we are not going to let this stop us. We are a very determined group, and we are still looking at other options. Quimper has been mentioned, I think this would be a good option, we'll have to investigate this further. I am thinking of burying the eggsaws in a bog close to where I live; a few years ago, there was some butter that was found there that was deemed to be a thousand years old. I believe it would be a good historical reference to use, not to mention the historical significance that bogs have to island of Ireland.
